LIFT Lab brings together people, ideas, and innovative approaches to explore how teams and systems can improve health and well‑being. Our work centers on collaboration, learning, and advancing practices that make a meaningful impact across diverse care settings.
Who We Are
LIFT Lab—Leading Improvement-Focused Teams—is committed to advancing the science and practice of healthcare delivery. As part of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Medicine, we are positioned at the intersection of interdisciplinary research, clinical practice, and system-wide improvement.
Our work spans implementation science, quality improvement, team dynamics, complexity science, and evidence-based practice. We collaborate with partners across the Wexner Medical Center, community organizations, and statewide initiatives to design, test, and scale meaningful improvements in health outcomes.
Our Vision and Mission
Vision
Lifting health system outcomes through team-based research, evidence-based practice, and continuous quality improvement.
Mission
Be trailblazers in advancing science and practice that leads to measurable, scalable improvements in health system outcomes by conducting innovative and actionable research, delivering top-quality education, engaging in pioneering collaborations, and providing transformative consultation services.
What We Do
We focus on complexity and systems science methods to understand how teams perform, how organizations learn, and how health systems can continuously improve. Our projects span multiple disciplines, patient populations, and care environments—each aimed at creating meaningful, measurable improvements that can be sustained over time.
Our Team and Collaborations
The LIFT Lab brings together faculty, staff, trainees, clinicians, and system partners who share a commitment to advancing improvement-focused research. Our work is strengthened by collaborations across the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, community organizations, statewide initiatives, and interdisciplinary teams. Together, these relationships support our efforts to explore how people and systems learn, adapt, and improve in ways that enhance care and outcomes.
